Comcast customer service is horrendous...mostly because for many they are the only game in town and they know it. AT&T just installed a hub about 100 yards down the road, so we should soon be able to tell Comcast what they can do with their cable service.

I think U-Verse being new to the area will mean it won't be any better until AT&T gets everything more established. I'm not crazy about Comcast, but my brother has to deal with Charter down in Columbia, and compared to Charter, Comcast is a dream.

Like rossc said, Comcast has been the only game in town for a while...if AT&T can actually bring some worthwhile competition, it will probably raise the level of service for Comcast, which is, of course, a good thing.

I wish I could get Uverse. I've heard they have more service issues versus Comcast but support and pricing is better...plus they offer French programming! The way they distribute is very frustrating, however, in Hendersonville my neighbor was eligible for Uverse but I was not.

U-verse is coming neighborhood by neighborhood. We just got it on our street in NorCal and I was very happy to tell Comcast to stick it where the sun don't shine. So far U-verse has been wonderful...couple cicadas to work out, but when you call you can get a live person and a tech out the next day if needed.
Charter "IS" the worst, hands down. When my BF moved from middle Columbia to North Columbia by Spring Hill, they totally screwed up his phone service and lost the number into cyberspace that he had been using for 10 years for his business. I can't begin to tell you the damage this created. It's like starting all over again. His long time customers could not find him because the number was disconnected and only forwarded for a short time.
We had to wait til the new phone books came out to advertise with a new number.
Yeah, Charter, if you are reading this, you are crapola! If you want to make it right PM me!
