In the Glenbrook Shopping Plaza in Hendersonville, an Italian ice place just opened up. It's called Scartulas Real Italian Ice. They have lots of flavors but I just had to get my lemon ice in a push up cup just like when I was a child growing up in NY.

Awesome! I've never had it. Just in time for warmer weather, too. Where is it in Glenbrook? I'm guessing in the smaller outlet with the Mongolian Grill and Lifeway?

It's located maybe a few shops down from HomeGoods in the main section.

The owners are from Long Island. The wife said they will be getting canollis soon!

Even better! My wife will be happy to hear about the canolli.

And Tom's Blue Moon BBQ is reopening in the location where Salsarita's was. So I'll go there for dinner and head over to the Italian Ice place for dessert.

I read on their Facebook page that tonight is their grand re-opening. I like the location, but wish it were in a bigger place. They have very good pulled pork, brisket, and their ribs are pretty good (I'm not a rib fan). Their sides are okay...if there's a weak spot in their menu that is it. Not bad...just average or slightly above average. Definitely worth a stop.

Traditionally, Italian Ice is both dairy and soy free

There is (was?) a Rita's Water Ice in Hermitage, too!

I tried Scartula's Italian Ice last night. I definitely recommend it. I'd never tried Italian Ice before...it was good stuff. And cheap! One scoop was about $1.50 each. Not bad compared to places like Sweet CiCi or Maggie Moo's.

I'll definitely go back.
