Does anyone know how well the neighborhood SeagateVillage on the old air force base holds up during during hurricanes? I've lived here for 2 years so far and I've been thinking about it for quite some time about hurricane damage to our duplex. My house is right off Kings Hwy across from the Myrtle Beach State Park and I know these houses were built by the Gov't and used for the air force base years ago. The houses seem pretty well designed for the location but i've seen the streets in the neighborhood flood atleast a foot or two from heavy down-pours to the point where the police had to block off certain streets til the flooding went down. If anyone in the area can remember how the development was affected by hugo or any other hurricanes that have hit Myrtle Beach I would greatly appreciate it!
We are moving to Juniper Dr later this month, (less than 1 mile off the sealine) It was somewhat of a concern too when the insurance denied coveage. You apparently live on that side of the community as well, but could you let me know if you happened to find out anything as of yet? Also the flooding you speak of, did it get bad enough to reach the carports? (i.e. damage autos, and the cars?) Our duplex is going to be on the opposite side of the ocean, so we've got a little bit of a fighting chance...also the fact that we've got a temporary lease...I worry though...any input?
Thx~
