Let’s Get it On/Marvin Gaye
I'm not listening to anything special, but I could add two or three just off the top of my head...
Yes, I'm Ready--Teri Desario and KC
I'd Really Love to See Ya Tonight--England Dan and John (Ford and Coley? Coley and Ford?)
Sexual Healing--Marvin Gaye (you listed one of his twice, beginning and end)
Most Air Supply or Journey would probably be good (of course, not "Don't Stop Beleving"), and I can think of a couple of Rod Stewart songs that would work in there.
Everyone has a different take on what's romantic, but for me it was about the meaning of the lyrics and liked to mix things up instead of just one genre of music.
You are right!! This is why I wanted other opinions. My husband and I are "stuck" in the 70's since we dated and were married then. Good suggestions, thanks!
I recently made my girlfriend a mix tape and put on the following songs:
1. The Fratellis - Whistle for the Choir (not exactly traditional, but The Fratellis is our favorite band)
2. Billy Joel - She's Got a Way
3. Gavin DeGraw - Overrated
4. Elton John - The One
5. The Beatles - Do You Want to Know a Secret?
6. Green Day - Last Night on Earth
7. Method Man and Mary J. Blige - You're All I Need
8. Led Zeppelin - The Rain Song
9. Common and Mary J. Blige - Come Close
10. The Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody
11. The Cowsills - The Rain, The Park, and Other Things
12. Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling in Love With You
13. Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Zephyr Song
14. Peter Sarstedt - Where Do You Go to My Lovely?
15. Joe Cocker - You Are So Beautiful
16. Journey - Open Arms
17. Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
18. Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
For a list, discounting the one I showed in video, there is the following in no particular order
When a Man Loves a Woman - Percy Sledge
Just My Imagination - The Temptations (Unrequited love, but maybe still counts)
I Will Always Love You - Houston/Parton
At Last - Etta James (In fact that one is good enough I'll link to it in a second)
Son of a Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield
Unchained Melodies - Various, mostly Righteous Brothers version
True Colors - Cyndi Lauper
Smoke Gets in Your Eyes - Various, but with some preference towards The Platters rendition
They Can't Take That Away From Me - Various, Armstrong and Fitzgerald had a good one
The Very Thought of You - Various, by Ray Noble
When I'm Sixty Four - The Beatles
Someday We'll Be Together - The Supremes
Yellow - Coldplay (That seems to be about as modern as I get I've noticed)
I'm sure there's several others even though love songs aren't entirely my thing. And now as promised "At Last."
