In 1981 Rolling Stone had an article titled "L.A. Searches for a New Knack" in which the contenders were the Plimsouls and Great Buildings. (Amazing what one hears on Live X Live in the background when working at home.) The Plimsouls enjoyed some success courtesy of the Valley Girl movie, while Great Buildings languished until a couple of the members split and formed The Rembrants, where they had a lot more success, especially with the one that introduces the TV show Friends. (See what I did there?) Heard this today, first time in many years.
