Here is a thread to post a favorite song that you think everyone should hear at least once! Also include a little history or just why you like it. Any genre of music, old or new. Posting videos is optional. One song per post please, but post as often as you like

WOMAN by LEGS DIAMOND

LEGS DIAMOND, a 70s-80s melodic hard rock band from California, is one of those bands that should have been huge, but it just never happend for them. I think they are as good or better than most of their peers from that era that are well known today. They still do live shows once in a while, and a new album has been forthcoming for some time.

WOMAN is a perfect example of the "power ballad" and could be a template for the 80s hair bands to come later. It's always been a fav of mine, and a great singalong at concerts.

YouTube - Gentle On My Mind Glen Campbell

I just think of this as a classic song. Not really rock, not really country, just basic American music. A story song.

"Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac. Alone. At 3 A.M. With a bottle of bourbon. With all your ex-girlfriends on speed dial.

Trust me, dude.

...

Wait, DON'T!

YOUR GHOST by KRISTIN HERSH

A simple little song, pretty much just guitar, strings, Kristin and backgrounds by REM's Michael Stipe, but it is larger than the sum of it's parts. Emotional, beautiful and strange

This is a good representation of the reggae that came out of the Studio One label in the late 60s. The first image in the video is the best single-disc compilation (of any music) I've ever heard.
