The classic soul ballad When A man Loves A Woman--who was it, Percy Heath or Donny Hathaway? and now I'm confused, was it Bill Withers who did "Lean On me" or Donny Hathaway?
When you are talking Percy Faith, you're talking about easy listening music. His career goes back to the late 50's with Columbia Records. He put out lp's on that label for 25 plus years. The song he is best noted for is "Theme From A Summer Place."
Percy Heath was one of the members of the famed Jazz group Modern Jazz Quartet. They recorded on several labels but the majority of their work were with Atlantic Records from the early 60's to the early 80's. They were/are one of my favorite Jazz groups-ever.
Donny Hathaway had a LOT of talent. Originally put out a few 45's on the Curtom label, he switched over to Atlantic around 1971. The next year he hooked up with Roberta Flack and dueted with her on the classic tune "Where Is The Love." He had a number of 45's and lp's for Atlantic, his most notable (and a personal favorite of mine) is Extensions Of A Man, released in 1973, I believe.
VERY sadly, Donny died from a 15th floor hotel room fall. The police said it was suicide, his friends insisted it was not, He was one talented man. Look at a couple Aretha albums, you'll find Donnie produced a few of them. Staple Singers too!

Not sure on that one. Google in Animal House-the Soundtrack lp. I do know there are quite a bit of late 50's early 60's songs on it, but no local Phillie artists-I think! One of those sites should have the album track listing for it.

"Where is the Love?" Great song, right HH? Two great voices there. Roberta sang like an angel if an angel could sing. I liked Donny Hataway, sad what happened to him. Reminds me of another singer I liked, the beautiful Phyllis Hyman.
