Some other great Albums from the late 80's along with your great picks of The Cult and GNR......B.Frank....
Queensryche- Empire
Anthrax - State of Euphoria
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Winger - Winger
Van Halen - OU812
Good one with Queensryche. I totally wore out my Operation: Mindcrime tape. I also liked the album right before that - was that Empire? It's been many years, though.
I tried to distinguish "hard rock" from "heavy metal" because I am unashamed about my love of 80s thrash. I can listen to Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, and Megadeth all day (unless I am actually in a bad/angry mood - then I can't stand listening to metal).
Iron Maiden - yes, 7th Son is another of my personal classics. Maybe that does qualify as Hard Rock but it usually gets counted as pure metal because it's, y'know, IRON MAIDEN. I'm not sure but I definitely like the album.
Gonna have to disagree on Winger. Kip's vox and the cheesy over-melodic choruses kill it for me. But if I remember right, I thought they were technically a pretty good band.
OU812: Meh. I'll admit - I had the tape. But I can't really listen to that stuff now. Certainly not "all the way through".
Slayer - Reign In Blood
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Skid Row - Skid Row
Okay so Reign In Blood isn't exactly 'rock' but it is one hell of an album!
Hmm..where to start?
Slayer: I love Slayer. I will always cherish Reign in Blood. But, yeah, not Hard Rock.
Same for Master of Puppets in my opinion. That album is probably my favorite Metallica album, though. But, for me, way too heavy to be considered Late-80s-rock.
Skid Row. Like Winger, this band extends way too far into the boundaries of hair metal for me. Also like Winger, they were a tight band when their 1st album came out.
Def Leppard - Hysteria
Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood
Cinderella - Long Cold Winter
Whitesnake - Whitesnake
4 more albums I have to admit to owning at one point.
Yes, I liked them all but, as for still being able to listen all the way through, I need to replace Dr. Feelgood with Girls, Girls, Girls.
