what is your favorite Musical Score or Soundtrack from a movie? Did you find/buy the music CD? (if available)

Me: the score from Armageddon, also from Prometheus.... both powerful and moving music!

If you like ambient music like I do, you might like the soundtrack from Drive.

Great! It's my favorite movie of all time. Word of advice: there exist a shorter version, and a longer director's cut version. Watch the shorter one first; it's much better.

If you enjoy Ennio Morricone, then definitely check out the album 'Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone'. It is incredibly beautiful. Below is a sample...

One of my all-time favorite movies is 'The Adventures of Robin Hood' (1938) starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, and Basil Rathbone. I have always considered that movie a masterpiece of epic quality. The musical score by Erich Wolfgang Korngold is at least partially responsible and is equally legendary, in my opinion.

I've contributed these at another thread though I don't recall the title. I've been buying soundtracks since I was in my early teens in the Sixties. While I can't afford as many now, I still occasionally indulge. Most of my collection is on vinyl.

This one is considered one of the best soundtracks ever written, a score that complements the story throughout, never overwhelming it, a brilliant achievement: Basil Poledouris' "Conan the Barbarian"! It never fails to send chills through me.

I would have a difficult time choosing THE best score this man has written, but this is for one of my favorite films for the past 50 years: Bernard Herrmann's "Jason and the Argonauts". From the first note, he sweeps us away. What would "Psycho" of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" be without his music?!

This man helped lay the groundwork for practically every movie composer to come:Max Steiner. This video includes many samples, but I do believe the theme from "A Summer Place" was left out.
