I know and like a few of this guy's songs, but am just figuring out who he is, which isn't the first time that's happened. Apparently he recorded "Please Remember Me" before Tim McGraw! When I ran across this song of his on YouTube, I was like..."uh, I always thought this was Tim McGraw", and, well, it was.

I've always liked this song, and now have a name to go with it! This song sounds a lot like Dwight Yoakam.

Rodney Crowell wrote some really great tunes. Five made it to the number one spot. Here's one he wrote that Crystal Gayle and Emmylou Harris both did a super job with.

Rodney did the song first because he is one of the writers.

God bless you and him always!!!

Rodney's first album in 1978 is "Aint Living Long Like This". He was in Emmylous Hot Band and that's the band on that album. One of the best country albums ever. They do a knock-out version of Elvira years before the Oak Ridge Boys had a big hit with it. Him and Emmylou have an alum out just in the last couple months - Old Yellow Moon. They re-make "Bluebird Wine" which was the first song on Emmylou's first album, "Pieces of the Sky".

Rodney Crowell - Many A Long And Lonesome Highway - YouTube

I want this song played at my memorial service. He's one of the most underrated and underappreciated performers, ever.
