Do you know of any good examples of this?

Define 'successful'.
Morphine? King Missile? Dakota/Dakota?
World Inferno?

By successfully blended, I mean when you hear their songs you can't tell whether you're listening to alternative/indie rock or jazz. It's sounds like a fusion of both with a lot of jazz chords and styles.

I think Dungen gets close to what I'm thinking, although that has psychedelic and prog rock influences as well.

I don't think you're going to find exactly what you're looking for. The closest you'll come is a song here and there, by an artist who leans heavily in one or the other direction most of the time. That's why I suggested Dungen. Some of their material fits that description rather well, but certainly not all of their material.

Nels Cline Singers is a band that has some material that might fit the description you're looking for, but again, much of their material would not.
