Yes, Civilized Evil is one of the 11 albums that I have by Ponty. However, I wouldn't know what his "synth" era was since I didn't start collecting his music until about 5 to 10 years ago. With Fables about 10 years ago and the other 10 albums within the last 5 years.

Also, here is my favorite from Civilized Evil:

And here are two more from Fables. Where the first one comes up "Perpetual Rondo" instead of "Perpetual Radio" on YouTube.

And:

Also, Fables is my all time favorite album by Ponty.

I like instrumentals, too. One of my favorites is the John Barry arrangement of the Midnight Cowboy theme. I love the harmonica.

I think that inherently, everyone likes instrumentals. However, for some reason, the word "instrumental" currently seems like a bad word in our society.

Has anyone seen this Ashton Kutcher Nikon camera television commercial?

Well, if you were curious about the music, that was a song called "For True" by Trombone Shorty...

Also, from the For True album is "UNC"...

His "synth era" is really just the five years from '80-85 where synths enjoyed a prominent role in his music. The one after Civilized Evil was Mystical Adventures (1982), followed by Individual Choice (1983). The legendary George Duke (R.I.P.) tears it up with a sizzling synth solo on this tune:

JLP also released this official video for the title track, which aired frequently on Night Flight.

Then came Open Mind (1984) and Fables (1985). IMO, Fables was the last really good album Ponty recorded for years. The next one, The Gift of Time, didn't sound as interesting as anything he'd done from Aurora on down through Fables. The music is competent, just not as unique or innovative.

Here's Keith's main title from his original score for Dario Argento's great horror film, Inferno. Awesome!
