I was listening to part of Casey Kasem AT 40, the 70s today when I heard some favorite songs. So many in one week. I'm adding a couple of posts, 3 songs and a true story.
From Casey Kasem's AT 40 -The 70s. From the 2/25/78 Countdown....two songs I like. I don't remember when I last heard Ebony Eyes https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FnJOsfalSYs
And the wonderful Yvonne Elliman, If I Can't Have You
The song I wanted to post about from the same AT 40 from 2/25/1978 Countdown. It's always been a favorite of mine so I was happy Casey had more to add.
The song is Falling by LeBlanc and Carr. What I didn't know or had forgotten was one of the bands LeBlanc & Carr opened for.
Opening for a show in Greenville, S.C. on Oct. 20, 1977 and were preparing for a long night of driving to Baton Rouge, LA. Two of the Roadies of the Headliner band decided they wanted to drove rather than fly. LeBlanc & Carr were thrilled to be able to fly instead of drive. But some last minute changes resulted in the crew flying and LeBlanc & Carr driving.
Of course that was the tragic flight of Lynyrd Skynyrd resulting in the crash that killed members of the band and flight crew. Several others on the plane were severly injured.
No music I discovered in junior high/high school (and there was a lot of it) was more mind-blowing to me at the time than Einstein on the Beach. Probably heard some of this in 79, but it's one of those things from the late 70s that gets lumped into the 80s, in my mind.
I used to blast this when it came on the radio. My poor mother. . .
