Could a chick flick bump Avatar off its box office top spot??

If Friday's numbers are any reflection of the days to come, YES!

Dear John, starring Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum opened to an impressive $13.8 million on Friday night, while Avatar only earned a little over $6 million!

Seems like the seven-week #1 streak is coming to a close!

I was expecting it to be knocked out last weekend. I'm surprised this movie will be the one to dethrone it.

Well you can only hold the #1 spot for so long. Besides, Cameron's got himself a first & second place standing for biggest box-office holdings. Impressive for sure.

Yeah, it was natural for this to happen. Everyone that saw it multiple times is probably done (or almost done) and there aren't enough new viewers to sustain it's number one spot. I haven't seen it yet, but the way the internet boards are treating it, it's the most dividing movie since "The Passion of The Christ"

I heard that movie sucked. I'm looking forward to watching Valentine's Day on Friday with all the celebs though!

It probably has a lot to do with the fact that Avatar has been out long enough to have great quality boot-legged versions online now. I just watched it earlier....rather than going out to the movies.
