In the beginning of the movie where the Sheriff drives Rambo out of town to get him out, who else would have just waited for the cop to drive out of sight and walked back to town anyways?
The whole movie would have been avoided had Rambo just waited before walking back. Thats just me maybe, but I didn't get the impression the cop was going to lie in wait seeing if he would, rather he seemed quite satisfied that his task was complete until he looked in his rearview mirror.

But then they wouldn't of had a movie! I wouldn't have paid 5 bucks to rent that movie had Rambo failed to act like an in your face bad ass.

That would have been missing the whole point of the movie. The cops had no valid reason to roust John out of town. If John would have waited to come back to town when the cop was gone, it would have been like admitting he had done something wrong. He deliberately walked back in while the cop could see him as a act of defiance and to say "You have no right to keep me out."

Well ... if he had walked away ... we would have missed Rambo's six pack abs ... all oiled up ... and that snarl ... that rag or whatever it was tied around his head keeping those long locks of hair out of his eyes.

Not to mention that Rambo served his country and felt that he a a right go anywhere he wanted, if he wasn't bothering anyone. A little civil disobedience.
