I second the Third Man, although Citizen Kane is not far behind.

Frankly, the only one I remember having seen is Citizen Kane. I liked it a lot.

I like the pre-Hollywood, radio and theatre ball-of-fire Orson who hit that exquisite apogee with C. KANE, and post-Hollywood Orson... Orson cast out of Eden and trying to make his way, pulling together financing where he could. I really like the pieces I've seen of his Don Quixote film (cut together later by someone else) --

YouTube - Orson Welles / Don Quichotte

(also enjoy as it's really of its time and a nice glimpse of the man OW was then,

YouTube - Orson Welles in the Basque Country)

Hollywoodwise, LADY FROM SHANGHAI and much of the grotesque TOUCH OF EVIL, the long opening tracking shot and the wonderful editing that implies his own rape of Janet Leigh. (THIRD MAN is British, directed by Carol Reed.)

I'd love to have known him! Evidently he was quite a terror.

I third it.

"Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Best villain ever.
