Re: The Walk... The last sentence may be a spoiler. I've seen Man on Wire, so going to see this at the theater was a no brainer. Several memorable shots that could only be made one way. Nothing but music and credits during the credits, in case you were thinking of seeing real footage of Petit, which you don't need if you've seen MoW. First time going to the closest theater to me - 1 adult $5.15, which was nice. Didn't realize Ben Kingsley was in it.
Saw preview. Thinking of going to see it but not so sure. I just can't imagine doing that
Looking forward to seeing "Spies" with Melissa McCarthy, when it comes out via RedBox.
I watched "Deadpool," the last movie in the Dirty Harry series yesterday.
It looked like Clint Eastwood enjoyed it, and probably was encouraged by the fact that this was the last time he would be making a movie in the series.
I busted out laughing during the scene where Jim Carrey is portraying a rock star and lip sinking to Guns N' Roses song, "Welcome to the Jungle."
Of course, Jim Carrey is well-known for his comedy these days. Back then (1988), he was just getting started.
Patricia Clarkson, playing a journalist, is the love interest and person that Harry seeks to protect, and Liam Neeson plays a movie director of horror flicks whose "Deadpool" (list of celebrities whom people wager will die) incites a string of murders.
There is a nice martial arts takedown of a criminal by Harry's Chinese partner (played by Evan Kim) that looked like something out of a Jackie Chan movie.
One of my favorite scenes is where Eastwood is sitting at a table holding a fortune cookie telling a criminal that he forgot to read his fortune, while the stupid criminal stares dumbfounded before getting his just desserts.
It was a fun movie, almost like it was paying homage to the series.
Happy People: A Year in the Taiga (2010), Werner Herzog..... ★★★★★
