Another great film by Eastwood. Wow is he showing his age though. But what a well thought out, touching movie.
At first when I saw the previews, I had this movie made out to be an old red neck Grandpa, taking on the ugly inner city gang bangers. Whitey versus thug. In a sense it had some aspect in that area, but it was so much more. In the end, the movie was about bring ethnicities together and showing depsite cultural differences, just how much alike we all really are.
I am glad to hear the movie was great.
I love Clint Eastwood.
(But as to the fact that he is showing his age, he was born in 1930,
how old did you think he should look,
unfortunately the actors we admire get old just like the rest of us!)
Hubby and I watched this movie too yesterday and absolutely loved it. The movie has plenty of funny dialogues throughout (especially the witty back & forth between Clint & the Hmong family), yet the story is a bit bittersweet as well. I love Clint, and sure hope he lives long to make some more movies for us.
Hey...my hubby and I went to the movies and saw Gran Torino yesterday as well.(I think we sat next to graceC and her hubby) LOL
I cried! This movie was so creatively thought out...the ending was so different than what one would normally expect from Clint Eastwood....not disappointingly different though! He's continues to be an incredible actor and producer!
I saw it a couple of days ago...excellent movie. One of the best that I have seen in a long time. Funny, yet meaningful. Bad Ass, yet intelligent. Clint Eastwood is an amazing actor. He doesn't over-act, something that I wish I could say for most Hollywood types. His characters are gritty, flawed, and real, and he choses his words carefully. Walt Kowalski is an angry old man who reminds a lot of my Grandfather. A grizzly old war vet, who once you get to know him, can be a great ally, but is not one to be crossed.
"Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have ****ed with? That's me."
Shades of Dirty Harry.
Eastwood has already stated this is the LAST role he will ever play in front of the camera but he loves directing so much he might be back behind the camera again but I seriously doubt it?
