Me and the spouse were talking a few days back after seeing a couple of new reality shows and seeing in the news what is going on and what is coming to pass.

If you rewatch The Running Man the similarities are definitely there.
Media, government, us versus them etc.

Anyone else see the similarities?

"Only in a re-run". Classic comeback by Dawson. "Go-o-o-o-o-o-"

These issues have been around long before anyone thought of the Running Man. Life has pretty much always been SSDD.

People have always taken a perverse pleasure in seeing human misery. Today it is "Momma's Boys" in the 30's it was a Freak Show. Before Running Man, gladiators battled it out in the Coliseum. Although they probably didn't have as many cool one liners. There are too many examples of corrupt government throughout history to list.

For most part the issues have not changed, just the way in which they present themselves.
