'Deathly Hallows' News, 'Alice in Wonderland' Set Pics and Clooney as Ranger | Rumor Mill Roundup | RopeofSilicon.com Entertainment News

A LOT of new sequels and remakes were announced this week, here's a list of a few of them with links to the source article or the film itself on RopeofSilicon:

* The Lone Ranger
* Pirates of the Caribbean 4
* National Treasure 3
* Hairspray 2
* Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
* I Am Legend Prequel
* Lethal Weapon 5
* Let the Right One In

On top of all that we learn Rachel McAdams will play the lead female in Sherlock Holmes, Pixar's Cars 2 has been bumped to 2011 and Newt moves to 2012, Spike Lee said Anthony Hemingway may be directing George Lucas's Redtails about the Tuskegee Airmen and while Johnny Depp may be down for a Pirates of the Caribbean 4 it sounds like Keira Knightley is done with it.

Some rumors have George Clooney as a potential star for The Lone Ranger starring opposite Depp who will play Tonto.

George A. Romero is making yet another zombie movie.

Yahoo has some Iron Man concept art and the first look at the cover art for The Dark Knight Blu-ray and Batpod Blu-ray are online.

Also Johnny Depp confirmed that he will star in the next Tim Burton film, Alice In Wonderland. It will be a live version, and he will play the Mad Hatter.

I am looking forward to Pirates 4, National Treasure 3 and Hairspray 2. The lone ranger movie too, maybe.

Thoughts, complaints, rants...

ah, the decline of Hollywood originality continues... I wonder at what point do they start remaking the remakes?

I am curious though if that Alice movie will look anything like the super creepy "Alice" video game from the 90's? granted, Tim Burton movies always have that surreal feel to them

Okay I am sooooo excited about "Alice in Wonderland" and I can't wait to see Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. There is no one more perfect to play that role and with Tim Burton its sure to ROCK!!!

Out of the others I'd like to see National Treasure 3 and The Lone Ranger. I think its time to put Pirates to bed. Don't think I'll be seeing #4.

Clooney is great, but he's too old to play the Lone Ranger. Johnny Depp is awesome, but I don't know if they could possibly find an actor who looked less like an Apache.

Oh wow, a Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland...I am so there...
just please, do not let Helena Bohnam Carter (I think that's her name, she's always in his movies) play Alice...maybe the queen but not Alice, yeck.

Don't worry she is not playing Alice. Here is the source: Alice in Wonderland (2010)

Johnny Depp as Tonto? Be still my heart! But won't Native Americans be offended?

I have always wanted a more adult version of Alice in Wonderland. Burton will do a great job, no doubt.

Why would they be offended?

Depp is a brilliant actor, but this really is a very poor casting choice. I hope it's only unfounded rumor. Unless they're making it a comedy. Then giddyup.
