You beat me to it. I was going to mention that one.
While I'm thinking about John Wayne movies, Frankie Avalon was in "The Alamo." I think there was yet another John Wayne movie with a famous singer in it, but I can't remember which one at the moment.
Robbie Robertson in "Carny" (a cool movie with a young Jodie Foster)
And any Elvis Presley movie ...I have 18 in my collection ....they're all good
I want to collect them all (I think he made 32 movies?)
Paul Jones (ex-Manfred Mann singer) in the rarely seen 1967 movie
called "Priviledge" It was considered to be too ontroversial and was banned from being shown in Britain for over 20 years
Another favorite of mine is Coal Miners Daughter, based on the life story of Country superstar Loretta Lynn. Loretta's dad was played by Levon Helm the drummer of one of the most definitive rock bands from the late '60's and early '70's, the Band. If memory serves, I think that might have been the first actor role Levon had. If not the first, then one of the first. Great movie, came out in 1980.
