Movie released 2008-2018, its similar to "Ready player one", however it has different plot.
There is world where everyone lives in online universe where they play MMO video game in Virtual Reality, and no one likes to leave to go into real world because its all messy and dirty, and VR world is perfect.
However there's a overweight guy who comes out as he gets assignment in real world, he is detective or private investigator and he needs to find a group that is trying to shut down the whole VR world.
I only remember in the end of the movie they located this group inside some apartment and send the police to arrest them, however gamers who were forced to go out of VR actually went there first and thorn apart the place and people who were sabotaging their VR universe.
This sounds like the movie Surrogates or a movie very similar to it.
I thought the same thing, with Bruce Willis.
