Rewatched it with the new Arrow Special Edition Blu ray after last seeing it as a kid sometime which I remember renting after the cover caught my eye. It’s cheesy, but fun and charming. The score really helps it as well. The early CGI effects don't hold up at all but they are interesting to watch in a "Time capsule" sort of way. Had a big crush on Catherine Mary Stewart in this as well
There are talks of a sequel Tron Legacy style. I would be totally down

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this one. I’m sure it’s very cheesy now...but thanks for the info on the blu ray. I’ll check this one out soon.

I once had a 35mm print of it. Benton didn't have orders to pick it up and the film distributor didn't want it. Like almost all 35mm release prints, it eventually turned pink and smelled of vinegar. It didn't make the next move.

I enjoyed it when I was 12 years old. Now? Not so much. Bad special effects aside, the movie itself just isn't aging very well.

I still think it has one of the most likely realistic computer-controlled space combat scene ever.

Tell the battle computer who the bad guys are, press the button, and hang on.

Of course, I enjoyed this movie and still watch it from time to time. Robert Preston one of my favorite actors.

I loved this movie. Clever dialogue and a good old-fashioned underdog victory. Centauri is endearing. Who cares if the special effects aren't 2021??

I did think Lance Guest would go on to bigger and better things though. Wonder what happened on the way....

It was okay. I do remember thinking that the kid was just the gunner, the reptilian alien was the actual pilot and would have been in command. Best arcade game soundtrack ever: Vanguard. Hey, thanks for taking me back to the mall arcade with my school friends back in the early 80s.
