Adrien Brody is in it! That nose! That nose! Marlon Brando was not happy with his noise, so he had someone punch him in the nose (I read it in one of his bio's) to flatten it out so he'd look more macho.

I barely made it thru the movie, Adrien playing a punkster with spiked hair but I hung in there because I so admire John Leguizamo. The movie was SOS, Summer of Sam.

I buy stacks of DVD's at thrift stores, record exchanges, and have you ever rifled thru stacks of DVD's and bypassed a number of them because...………………...

I love that movie. Has a great soundtrack, too.

70s New York City is one of my favorite settings.

No, I can't imagine bypassing The Pianist because of Adrian Brody's nose, or bypassing The Last King of Scotland because of Forest Whitaker's eyes.

My list of no-gos includes:

-horror movies in general (“Psycho” and afterwards).
-movies with grisly violence, especially body horror.
-action flicks.
-teen audience films, especially gross-out ones.
-movies featuring significant property destruction.
-anything with shaky hand-held camera work. Makes me feel nauseous.
-pretentious foreign films (like French New Wave stuff), especially anything directed by Luis Bunuel.

I avoid most comedy shows/actors because I relish dark humor and I realize Hollywood needs to make $$ and dark humor only appeals to a limited audience, they'd lose money on it. Thank God for Sacha Baron Cohen. I just wish Andy Warhol had made more movies.

There's certain actors that make me very uncomfortable for some unknown reason, so I avoid films with Clint Eastwood, Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell and Sandra Bullock.

  1. I don't do (adult) fantasy.
  2. I don't do grimdark sf any more.
  3. I don't do fraught couples movies.
  4. I don't do stupid. (And far too much 'humor' is based on what drunk 25yos laugh at.)
  5. I can't look at Renee Zellweger's squinchy expressions one more time.
  6. And I don't do movies with a cast of Hot! New! Faces! all younger than my kids.

I agree simply on the basis that she's an obnoxious actress. Don't need to drag in the slightest political or family issue.

But there is "Barbarella"... hmm.
