Hi. I am interested in this "genre" if we can say this is a genre as for movies. Basically, I am looking for good films with a plot of an alien invasion to the Earth. Just as an example, movies like Independence Day. I know there are quite a few ones but I would like to read your opinion about recommendations rather to search for lists.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers

I’ve only seen the 1978 remake, but enjoyed it, partly because I like Donald Sutherland as an actor. The original 1956 version seems to have garnered more critical acclaim, so it may be worthwhile to check both versions out.

I liked Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise. The whole sci-fi Groundhog Day thing grabbed me.

Independence Day was very good, but the sequel was horrible, in the same class as Battleship.

Watch the first one, it's better IMHO. Saw it as a kid and scared the crap outta me.

Another favorite was the original Invaders from Mars.

Don't forget War of the Worlds. And there's an old Twilight Zone episode called To Serve Man.

I was just going to post that. IMHO, District 9 is very interesting because it is unusual and thought provoking.

When I was a kid, "Invaders from Mars" scared the crap out of me. I'm always looking for it to be shown on TCM but they seem to overlook it, which I think is a real shame. I think it would still scare me even now.

Yeah, that one scared me as well. If you have Amazon Prime it's available for free. I watched it the other night. I see now how fake everything looks, but back then, it seemed so real. Watching the father being sucked down through the ground did it for me.
