their characters. (Radar telling Hawkeye how he looked up to him), (BJ turning down a chance to have an affair with Susan St. James because he's such a good guy)...A bit of an ego trip.

Let's not forget Barbra Streisand! She directed and starred in The Prince of Tides and The Mirror Has Two Faces. She played smart women who had handsome leading men after her. And other characters in the movie
admiring her character. She could do no wrong, it seems.

I don't think Michael Landon ever played a "bad" guy. But being known for nice family shows isn't such a bad thing....
All this talk about Alan Alda reminds me of his character in The Four Seasons, a movie about three(and a half?) couples who go on vacation together in the four different seasons. By the end of the movie everybody is getting down on Alda's character about him having to be right all the time.

Watch The Four Seasons and /thread.

That film was written and directed by Alda, again showing that he was aware of his righteous image.

The movie struck me as Alda doing some personal therapy in public.

Never saw that one. Did he try to be "cute" like Michael J. Fox's werewolf?

Yes! And he cast his own daughters in the movie as well. As did Barbra Streisand having her own son play
her son in The Prince of Tides. Nepotism runs rampant in Hollywood...

Yeah, sort of like when Lucille Ball was launching her "Here's Lucy" show in 1968. To play the part of her children there was an international talent search, won, surprisingly, by her actual kids, , Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr. What a coincidence that they were the best.
