I was hesitant to create this thread because I can already imagine it going badly, but what the heck? Has anyone seen this or planning to see this? What were your thoughts? I’ve seen it, but I haven’t read the book, so I feel like I probably missed out on a lot of the character development and didn’t get as much out of the plot as I could have. But that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy the film.

I saw it a few days ago and thought it was lovely. The duo had great chemistry.

It's garnering rave reviews and many are calling it the film of the year. It's only going to be released nation-wide in the US on the 19th of January so you don't see that many people talking about it. I'm guessing it's gonna go really big both in the US and beyond. You're definitely not alone on loving it.

He was 24. I know some people complained that Armie Hammer can’t convincingly pull off 24. lol

Some people definitely have a problem with it from what I've heard, but the story takes place in Italy where 17 is above the age of consent. So I don't personally have a problem with it.

Not really. Age of consent is 16 in many countries. Besides I don’t really see the difference between 17 and 18. Not to mention 24 is still super young.

Also, the age difference was the same in Dirty Dancing with Baby being 17 and Johnny being 24, but I don’t think most people get hung up on that detail when it comes to that movie.
