Has anyone seen this film? I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE Joy Division fan and didn't even know this film was made, much less released and award winning! I loved 24 Hour Party People and read Touching From a Distance (yes, fan isn't the word here). I just pre-ordered the DVD ... it's coming out on March 25th.

Am I the only JD geek here?

Joy Division geek here:
I have been looking forward to "Control" for a while now: can't wait!
While waiting for that you might check out: "Joy Division: Under Review". It's sort of a documentary - more of a collection of interviewes with critics, authors and musicians who were close to the Manchester scene back then. There is also a bunch of video footage of JD thrown in.
Recommended for geeks.

I'll check it out! I didn't realize that Tony Wilson died last summer either Rob Gretton, Martin Hannett, Tony Wilson ... the 3 founders of the Manchester scene, all gone.

reps to you for being cool

I stumbled, well, channel surfed on to another interesting documentary about the Sheffield music scene (who knew?), called Made in Sheffield .. Cabaret Voltaire, Human League, Heaven 17 and and and Def Leppard! ... good stuff!

Is there a poster of Iggy Pop in the bedroom of Curtis in any of the scenes? The film production licensed the image from me...

Just finished watching the film. Wow, it was ... amazing, depressing .. beautiful. Wow. I don't recall seeing Iggy on the wall, but he was looking through some albums and a stooges one was in there. I'll have a closer look next time.

It's a major major bummer, but so incredibly good. I know that sounds dumb, but it's true.

I saw it in the theater. Beautiful and depressing at the same time. I love it when photographers decide to make films

I wonder how different it would have been if someone like Julian Schnabel would have done it ... but Corbijn was perfect for it. He made a film of the one thing that he loves.
