I hated the first HOBBIT movie.

I finally sat down and watched the second. Didn't hate it, but I have no desire to see it again.

I haven't yet worked up the will to sit through the third.

Actually, The Hobbit isn't a trilogy at all, it is one book. The trilogy you are thinking of is the Lord of the Rings, by the same author, JRR Tolkein.

Not even close, it's probably not even in the top twenty. The LOTR trilogy has a good claim for a top ten spot though.
