I get that. But it's driving characters that I would love to see thrown at a window. Having to sit and watch them for hours on end is torture. Why would anyone root for Don Draper? He's a horrible husband. He's a horrible father. He's a horrible boyfriend. He's horrible to his subordinates. He's horrible to his superiors. All in all, he's just a horrible human being without a single redeeming quality (other than his looks).

But he's a brilliant ad executive! Fair enough. But isn't that kind of like being the world's most charming pimp? How great is it to be really good at a despicable profession?

Love the show ! Very bummed to see it coming to an end. For those that like that era , check out Magic City. It is set in 1959 Miami.

I love Mad Men. I've lived during the timeframe so I have some reference (although not that kind of life!) and for me each episode evokes a "mood" that sometimes perfectly captures how I have felt at different times or at least gives me characters I can see relating to that mood. It hits on different levels too, not just the faces or surface stories but the feeling and meaning behind it all and often it's the end music that brings it all together for me. It's not a fast paced story for the most part, it's more character study stuff but it's amazing IMO. Different from anything else on TV and probably not meant for everyone, it's not a show where you "root" for someone, it's not a sit com that wraps up complex issues in an hour nor does it exist to make you feel happy all the time. That's ok. Plenty of REALITY TV for those folks.

Move this thread to TV.
