Most people, including myself, are familiar with John Cassavetes as an actor. And he could be a good one. However, others are also familiar with the movies he directed, many of which are critical favorites. I have only seen two - both on Turner Classic Movies - A Child Is Waiting, starring Burt Lancaster and Judy Garland, and Too Late Blues, starring Bobby Darin and Stella Stevens. Anyone seen his others?

I just saw A Woman Under the Influence (1974) with Gena Rowlands and Peter Falk and was blown away. 4.X / 5 stars. I need to see more of his films. The library has Criterion Collection dvds of Shadows (1959) and Faces (1968), so those will be in the queue soon.

His son, Nick, is also a director and appeared in two of his father's films.
