You have modern international intrigue, scientific theory,
cells growing, time travel, scary guns and chases,
AND spiritual stuff all rolled into one...plus great casting!

I just saw this today, and I really liked the first part, but felt it ran out of gas towards the ending.

A rather odd and weird ending, felt like I've seen it all before somewhere. Maybe it was "Transcendence" by Johnny Depp, or a number of other movies.

A little disappointed since I love strong female lead characters (that kick booty). Scarlett was great though.

What's with all the controversy with this movie?

Don't know about any controversy.
Wish I could say more, but when we reach our full potential,
well, let's say, I was pleased with the ending.
But, I know the human race is heading there.

I've read Superbeings by John Randolph Price.

I enjoyed it. I didn't think it was all that realistic, and people are complaining about that online, but a movie is meant to be an fanciful escape. If you have to think too hard about things like that, I don't know how you ever enjoy any movie. The special effects were good, and I never tire of seeing Scarlett Johansson on the big screen. Loved her in The Island too!

Well, actually, as the movie progressed, one of the things that did disappoint me was how unrealistic the movie seemed to become.

I know there's going to be some suspension of belief, but the way the movie is set up from the beginning, I didn't think it would become complete science fiction fantasy like "The Matrix."

You had Morgan Freeman giving a compelling speech about brain capacity, and the way the drug changed people's minds.

The controversy was that many scientists spoke out about the "science" as presented, that humans using only 10% of their brains was a myth, and that a lot of other stuff Morgan Freeman lectured about was just wrong.

I thought Scarlett J. was miscast. She can do a lot of characters, but playing a super-genius is not one of them. Her flat expression and mannerisms remained unchanged from being a dull-witted chick at the beginning.

Except for her and Freeman, the rest of the cast was a bunch of nameless Chinese and French guys. Way too much standard broken glass and crashing car scenes. Maybe if she levitated the cars or ran at super speed or something more original?

I expected more from the director who did The Fifth Element.

Choi Min-sik isn't some "nameless Chinese" actor.... he isn't even Chinese, he is SOUTH KOREAN. He is wayyyyy bigger than Scarjo..... you know there is way more than American actors, right? I think Americans forget that sometimes.
