And exclude war movies, about which there are many, many examples. But any other man-made or natural ACTUAL disasters are fair game. (No aliens blowing up the White House please.)

Off the top of my head I can think of the moives about the Titanic, two or three about 9/11, the Grapes of Wrath about the Dust Bowl, but then I run a blank. What are they? Andf if they're not a lot of them, how come?

At last another few! I knew there had to be some out there. I do vaguley remember seeing the The Hindenburg and thinking it was boring beyond belief, except for the actual crash at the end.

The Perfect Storm though was pretty good, and I'd forgotten about that one.

Never saw The Impossible though there ought to be some good drama in that one. But it did remind me that I've seen Hereafter, a 2010 Clint Eastwood pic about clairvoyance where the Tsunami played a part. OTOH, if I can't remember much about it, I guess it wasn't all that great.

I do recall some movie about plane crash survivors eating each other in the Andes (was it theatrical or made for television?) and I suppose something somewhere has been done about the Donner party. But nothing comes to mind.

I also just rememberd San Francisco (1936) with Clark Gable, about the earthquake. That movie was a lot of fun to watch and I'd recommend it to anyone into the classics.

.
I was listing "The Hindenburg" as an example of a real life disaster flick, I agree with you that it was a tedious film.

Another one...also a bad movie, was "Krakatoa, East of Java" which famously had the title wrong, Krakatoa being west of Java. I found it impossible to care about the characters or plot elements of the soap opera which was the excuse to show us a bunch of eruption special effects. The effects were okay for the time.

We have also overlooked the very recent "Pompeii" which was a disaster of a film about the natural disaster. It was not the first. There was:

1959

1935

And a silent film from 1926
