When movies are filmed do they do a G-rated take without profanity? I'm speaking of instances when the s word is substituted with "shoot" and j.c. becomes "geez louise", its still the actors voice with both versions. Just something I always wondered about.
Nope. Usually the films are edited well after production by the networks airing the films on TV. They replace offending words with a "clean" voice over done by someone with a voice similar to the actor's.

They replace it if you're lucky! Or else you run into what I'm seeing: the sound just drops out entirely.
Sometimes I think they do film scenes that can be aired on airplanes or basic cable. Every so often you'll see one that's not dubbed, but you know that the version you saw in the theater was more adult.
