I refuse to approach these. Reading and hearing about some of them is more than enough. I've seen trailers for a number of them, and that really convinces me to stay away. I'm at a stage in my life that I do not want to punish my senses just to satisfy what people think a film buff is. I can ID some of them because I've read the summary~unless it gets too bad.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre in any shape or form
anything with that bizarre Cohen guy
Will Ferrell ~ practically everything
nearly all unnecessary remakes
Adam Sandler ~ everything
most of Quentin Tarantino
American Pie series
American Beauty
Precious
plus: practically all of the so-called romantic/raunchy comedies and all gangbanger/hood movies; anything that involves slicing and dicing humans or making them do it to themselves (Saw and Hostel series, The Collector, etc.)
DITTO! Except for "American Beauty." Watched it several times. Still have it, and I do think it was beautiful, in parts.
More never-saws, and still not interested:
Twilight series
Harry Potter series
The Lord of the Ring series
Anything animated (to me, these are cartoons)
The African Queen
The Bridge on the River Kwai
The Godfather or any of the sequels
Lawrence of Arabia
Chinatown
2001: A Space Odyssey
Dr. Strangelove
Bonnie and Clyde
High Noon
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Anything with John Wayne
King Kong
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Third Man
Fantasia
The French Connection
Ben-Hur
Shane
And this is only the partial list of the AFI Top 100.

My younger sister during one of her final visits spoke of seeing "Cabin Fever" and wishing that she could scrub her brain out. I told her that was exactly how I felt afterward! We agreed that it wasn't necessary to punish ourselves by watching some films just to say later, "Yes, I watched that." Meanwhile, we would be stuck with a lot of foulness in our memories. I'm past six decades now. I have the right not to drag myself through many unpleasant experiences.

I love movies, but I have my limits.
I don't really know your tastes, but American Beauty should not be lumped with the others mentioned. You might like that movie. The cinamatography was beautiful, and Kevin Spacey is amazing. It's not at all like the others.
Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, Batman movies, Gone with the Wind. The Godfather and many more.
