What were your favorite childhood movies? Mine were the Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

March of the Wooden soldiers
The Dark Crystal
Explorers
Flight of the navigator
E.T.
The Gate
Later Godzilla films with the weird/silly monsters he faced.

I grew up on Sci-fi films and even horror films. These stand out for me.

I'll second all those Creature Double Feature Godzilla movies, but my all time favorite (still is) was Star Wars. The force was with me as a child, my brother and I must have made our poor mom sit through that at least ten times in the theatre. I also enjoyed the old Disney movies - The Parent Trap, The Shaggy D.A., Herbie The Love Big, Escape From Witch Mountain, Flubber, The Apple Dumpling Gang, etc.

Some of my most memorable movies I watched as a kid:

The Wizard of Oz
The Last Star Fighter
Goonies
Flight of the Navigator
Back to the Future
Labyrinth
Legend
Never Ending Story
Star Wars
Red Dawn
Willow

And finally this movie:

Salem's Lot. Yeah, not a good movie to watch as a 6 or 7 year old kid. LOL. There are scenes that are FOREVER ingrain in my mind.

"The Jungle Book" (with Sabu)
"The Thief of Bagdad" (also Sabu):
"The Alamo" (John Wayne)
"High Noon"
"Trapeze"
"Around the World in 80 Days" (David Niven)
The Disney classics: "Lady and the Tramp," "Bambi," and "Cinderella."
And a strange Swedish movie I saw on TV once when I was 6 or 7 and never forgot: "Singoalla" ("Gipsy Fury"). I'd love to see it again, but haven't been able to find it on DVD.

I used to have a really good memory for soundtracks, and could hum/sing movie songs I'd only heard once. A big part of the attraction for me was a good soundtrack, even as a kid.

Another thread that separates the youngsters from us sensible adults!
