That film is the closest version to the book. It will also be on my list when I go for the other film.

What took me completely by surprise in this film wasn't the ending, which you could kind of see coming a mile away, but toward the middle of the film when he calls his secretary into his office and it's Greer Garson. Floored me.

My favorite is the George C. Scott of '84 version but then I haven't seen all of them. Perhaps I'll see if they have the Patrick Stewart version on Netflix.

I like the Reginald Owen version best as well; I'd be a traitor to my generation if I said I didn't love Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol! LOL

Another vote for the 1938 Reginald Owen version. Also perhaps the best supporting cast. Gene Lockhart gets my vote as the best Bob Cratchit.

The Muppets Christmas Carol is the best then Scrooged and then Disney's Christmas Carol. In non movies, Flinstones Christmas Carol.
