The film is supposed to open Thu, May 16.
But the printed paper for Arclight Pasadena says some shows are Wed May 15, I think as early as 830.
What's going on?
Midnight, I could understand, as that would be Thursday technically.
In case some missed it, they changed the release date from May 17 to 16 a few weeks ago.
The commercial with the insurance people still says May 17.
I found out that the Wed. night shows are sneak previews but I don't know how to get in.
They're also showing the 2009 film around 9 and then the new one right after, at midnight.
This is the Arclight Pasadena.
I saw the film last night at 12:05 AM. The theater was less than half full since it was a Wednesday night.
The film is sometimes mushy or silly, esp. the last 1/3.
I was hoping to see fans in costumes, but I just saw an usher in a terrible Spock wig and ears. And one girl in a Uhura red uniform.
I thought this was a great addition the Star Trek universe, I absolutely loved it. Especially one of the last scenes with Kirk and Spock, well done for sure!
I thought that was a great scene, not par to Wrath Of Khan but I definitely enjoyed it. The whole point was to essentially show you that Spock isn't just some mindless computer, it was to show the developing bond Spock and Kirk have just as they did in the Original Series. The fact that Spock cried meant a lot of different things. He said earlier in the film he never wanted to feel what he felt when his Planet was destroyed again, but I have to assume that's what they were getting at, that he felt the same way as he watched his "friend" die.
I am assuming the other scene you are referring to is the one where Captain Pike dies? Pike was the only father figure Kirk ever truly had in his life in this timeline, so of course he's going to cry when he dies? Spock (only once that I can remember) and Kirk cried in the Original Series too, so I don't get why it's such a issue. They aren't normal superhuman heros, they are ordinary beings with humanistic values and they express that clearly throughout the Original Series and the reboots. Star Trek isn't some mind-numbing war type of Sci-Fi, it's also a "study" of human nature and morals and things like that, it is very philosophical. Crying is a given.
I'd have to think that guy was just an extra and some type of Android/Robot or something? He wasn't in the movie a whole lot so he's not really relevant.
