Digital movies have been the death of the video rental stores. Now when I want to watch a movie I need to choose from whatever is currently offered on my On Demand from cable. Unfortunately, I find the choices to be very limiting at times.
Here is my question. How do I go about watching older movies, or just something that is not currently being offered on On Demand?
Netflix doesn't even offer the mail order movies any more. Everything is either streamed to your computer or a device such as a Wii or X-box. I don't have either of these items, and don't plan to purchase one just to rent movies. I don't want to watch on my computer, as I have a desktop and it's in my office (not really the best place to sit back and watch a movie).
I am looking into apple T.V. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I am defiantly going to check out the library selection.
Regarding Netflix, I believe you are correct that they still offer dvds by mail, however, I believe it is an additional cost, above the monthly fee to download movies on the Wii and XBox. I don't think it's a stand alone feature anymore.
I also just checked out Amazon and realized that I can purchase some of the older movies I missed for about $10. More than renting, but still less than a movie ticket

Thanks!
Netflix, you pay $8/mo Total for downloading movies
If you want downloading & dvd mail movies you pay $11/mo Total
For a $3 difference, I think it would be dumb to not go for the dvd option.
There are those Big Red Box things in most groceries now. They seem to have recent movies for $1. Not sure as I don't check them out.
They are at McDonald's too
