Interesting thread here from a forum moderator & owner of a Can-am.

Victory Motorcycles: Victory Vision, Victory Kingpin, Victory Vegas, Victory Hammer, Arlen Ness (http://thevog.net/forums/display_topic/id_4453/ - broken link)

Good article; fairly balanced.

Like anyone who chooses a non-standard configuration, being it a Y like the Spyder or a trike or sidecar, you have to almost completely throw the 2-wheel mentality out of your head. We have a Spyder and a motorcycle with sidecar, having been 2-wheelers for a number of years before. They have their advantages and disadvantages and are vehicles we prefer over two-wheels.

If anyone was interested in something other than the standard configuration, I'd recommend a lot of study and hanging out on boards where those kind of rigs are the specific subject. Before becoming a hack rider, I studied on the matter for over a year, taking a course and talking to people who pilot them. It was a very good choice, but not one that would suit everyone.

First they are not tricycles. My wife and I have had the chance to test ride the Can-am on two occations. The test rides lasted 30 to 45 mins.If you go to the web site they show the place and date of the next demo ride. They are really pushing for sales. And if there's a dealer in your area they will set you up.Its a different ride. You get the feel of it real quick. You can take a corner at 45 with no issue. They turn on a dime. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of storage, windsheild. But they now have a touring model.I'm not interested of pulling a trailer with any bike.So that would be a big no for me. It would make for a good second bike.Or for me a good sixth.

To me, they are an ingenious styling and engineering exercise, and they are probably fun to ride, but they are caught between two stools: car and motorcycle.
