Sorry, but for me the photo didn't come through. I doubt very seriously that it sounds much like a Harley, since it isn't a V-twin. Those Cushman Eagles were the hot setup when I was in high school, unless one had a Mustang scooter/motorcycle!
Hmmm, the link must have gone bad. But I guarantee it sounded like a Harley though. Maybe it was the pipes, or perhaps a total engine swap, but Cushman's have been known to have V-twins. I haven't done a lot of research on the standard Cushman, but if this is a mod, it sure is prevalent. Look at this...
I don't think Cushmans ever had V-twin motors, but that is a cool link! The Cushman riders look like they are having a ball. The last time I was in Fort Davis, TX, out near McDonald Observatory, there were about 50 Cushman scooters there. They must have been having an event of some kind.
That scooter looks strangely like a 1948 Davis Divan, with Cord 812 influence. So many small, and one off manufactures back then, sure made things interesting!

Heinkel?? Maybe? It looks German to me. If not a Heinkel, maybe a Maico Mobile? I remember Peugeot made some funky looking scooters back in the day. I wouldn't count them out.
I love to look at unique old scooters. Our riding group goes to usually two scooter shows in the season and some of them are amazing. I don't have the know how or the patience to work on a bike. I just want to ride....
Cushmans are more like little motorcycles. When I was in high school (shortly after the glaciers receded), the hot setup was a Mustang!
Yes I suppose they are. My graduation was interrupted when a wooley mammoth ran into the high school auditorium but I recall the Mustangs too. They too were neat but quite a bit more rare than the Cushmans.
As to an earlier comment about "scooters" being step-throughs, I recently returned a '78 Yamaha Chappy (sometimes called a minibike or a scooter) to running condition and gave it to my granddaughter for Christmas. The kids spent all day Christmas running that thing up and down the frozen dirt road. They loved it! Lots of work left on the scooter but it runs like a banshee.
