I said the same thing when Lawrence Grodsky hit a deer awhile back. Sometimes a "perfect storm" of circumstances happens and overwhelms even an expert. I guess.
The Rv driver should have looked once, and if he did he should have looked twice. It could have saved a great mans life. This is truley a sad day. He wouldn't have done something anyone would consider reckless, this was not some young guy doing wheelies across I-4. The driver of the RV was more reckless than Rossmeyer.
I'm glad you posted this. I came in here to do so.
What a hole this will leave in our local biking community. What a great guy he was.
I'll share this story with you. We were at Destination Daytona during BikeWeek last year just about the time they did the drawing for the Bike they give away every year. So Bruce gets up, draws the number and calls the winner on his cell phone. The guy thought is was a crank call. It took forever to convince him it really was Bruce on the phone and he really did win!
Bruce got to laughing so hard we thought he was going to fall off the stage. It ended up that the guy who won was from out of town and really didn't have a way to get the bike home. Bruce personally took that bike to the winner's house. No Charge.

It was a bad deal, but Katie,it WASN'T the guy pulling the trailers fault.
The truck driver, Robert L. VanValkenburg, 73, of Rock Springs, Wy., slowed down and began making a left turn and Rossmeyer tried to pass him when they collided, the highway patrol said. Rossmeyer was not wearing a helmet and VanValkenburg's turn signals and brake lights were working at the time of the crash, the report said.

The RV driver signaled a left turn. Clear indicator of intention, and following traffic is clearly wrong to attempt to pass on the left a vehicle signaling a left turn, be it a moped or an 18 wheeler.
Yes Mule--Of course, everyone is quick to jump and blame the truck/Rv driver. Did it ever occur that maybe Bruce did the mistake as obviously proven??
Mule isn't blaming it on the trailer operators fault.
