For outboard motors do you prefer jet or propeller? Which do you have ?
I have been watching a lot of YT vids of boats going in and out of the South Florida inlets like Haulover for some reason. I remember hearing about all the manatees being hit by the propellers. I just started looking into outboard water jets.
I just finds these mechanics rather fascinating. The jets have a bucket that lowers in front of the jet opening and redirects jet in opposite direction giving the boat its reverse thrust. But seems as though this redirected jet will push water away from intake.
Jaccuzzi pumps are less efficient than props. You'll burn extra fuel with a jet vs. props.
My brother had an Egg Harbor "Golden Egg." Twin screws. The props are 30 X 30. He lost one in 3600' of water, just North of Santa Catalina Island. We came back to MDR on the starboard engine. A 30" prop costs a lot! Heavy too... Kinda miss fishing on that boat...

You need to give some SPECIFICS for anybody to answer the question.......answers will vary all over depending on what you are doing............shallow water or ocean running are miles apart.........

Mainly for ocean running, with big waves. I do see a lot of shallow river boats having the pump.
