I want something to go riding around town and to work. I haven't owned a bike since my 1973 Bonneville (when a 650cc was considered big). I still have nightmares about the reliability of that Triumph but I guess those days are over with all bikes? Especially this one?

The S40 is a great little bike, Rich, especially if you get one of the newer ones with the belt drive. (That saves you the hassle of adjusting and cleaning a chain.) I wanted to buy a new one about a year ago, and had seen one in the local dealership. By the time I got around to going in with the cash it had been sold, and the dealer has not had another in stock since. I had been checking craigs list for used ones, but couldn't find one. I, instead then, bought a used 600CC Honda Shadow VLX. It's a bit larger than the S40, and is a V-twin as opposed to being a thumper. I am very happy with it.

I used to own a 2003 Suzuki Savage LS650, which is the exact same bike the Boulevard S40 is, minus the sissy bar. It was my ALL-TIME favorite bike! I loved that thumper... even its factory backfire that it does (due to leaning out of the carb, per the factory). It got GREAT gas mileage... I averaged nearly 60 mpgs! A true bullet-proof bike! Very little maintenance to do on them, and the minor things, like oil changes, are an absolute breeze to do.

They truly are a great bike for someone just getting back into riding. Very lightweight (under 400 lbs "wet"), extremely maneuverable, and very forgiving. One of the best bangs-for-the-buck out there!
