Longest journey on a 50 cc scooter set Guinness record - Zephyrhills man ~ Breaking World Records 2010 | Limca Book Records 2010| Guinness World Record Picture,Video

Just did a Google search on scooters and found this little piece. Would anyone on here travel cross country on a 50cc bike? And the guy is said to overweight the scooter by 100 lbs as well and he says he will be traveling on major highways.

Quote:
At 300 pounds or so, Salvatore outweighs his scooter by about 100 pounds. He said he has gotten the Keeway up to about 55 mph, but it averages about 45 mph.
He plans to take major highways.

So do you know did he finish yet? That article was from April. Hopefully it all went well for him since it was for a good cause but it does sound kinda crazy, even though given the same opportunity as him to raise money for a charity i would have done it too. I wonder what it was like going 45mph on highways where the speedlimit was 70? Or what it was like if it was super windy or raining? Sounds like it would be a good story to tell the grandkids someday though and i'm sure it must be hard to beat the gas mileage his scooter got for such a long roadtrip, lol.

He is not the only one to do this. On scooter forums I found out there there are lots of people who, A)Walk cross country O.o must of been torture on their legs and feet. B)Cycle cross country on a bike c)Travel cross country on a scooter or motorcycle.

Some people on motorcycles and scooters have been found to ride even in the rain or snow. One dude was found riding a scooter in a city when it was -10F out side and the guy did not even have gloves on and he was wearing a short sleeve shirt ,again, O.o .

There are a lot of people that travel on 50cc bikes for the fun of it since A)They wish to enjoy the sites rather than getting to point a to b in the fastest time. B)They have 4-6 months open on their schedule to cross the country at 30 - 45MPH.

^ Yea, i have heard of a bunch of stories of folks doing those things as well. I personally saw a guy that was riding a bicycle cross country when he came through my town. I know it was a movie and not real, but i remember on Forest Gump when he just felt like runnin one day and ran all across the country everywhere for like 3 years or something, lol. I was actually thinking about that earlier, what would be the most gratifying way to cross the country and take in the sights. I think a scooter or a motorcycle would be a cool way especially with a camera on hand and someone else to share the experience with. I don't know about all that crazy riding in the snow with t-shirts stuff though, lol.

Depends on the vehicle. Some scooters can get up to 80MPH but don't really go above 45MPH.
