Just read a new issue of Popular Science magazine. They showed a motorcycle visor that goes dark in bright sunshine and clear after dark. They said it retails for about $100. Any of you ever seen this before?

No I haven't but that would be something I might consider. $100 is a little steep though.

Considering that visors get scratched over time and need replacing, at $100, I'll just put on and remove my sunglasses when needed.

I agree. Or you could get a helmet such as an HJC SyMax II which has a sunshield built in which raises and lowers. It's behind the regular shield, so it isn't exposed to flying debris.

BTW...how exactly does that flip up say when it's dark? I mean where does it go?

I'm not sure I understand your question, but it raises up into the helmet shell by pressing an outside button. Rather ingenious, IMO.

Yeah...that's what I meant. Normally, a regular flip up visor just flips up on the outside still exposed to bugs and stuff. So I wondered how the inner tinted one worked without being exposed.
