Is there a % that I can receive gift funds on a VA loan- is there a maximum...say 10%?

you get as much as you want, just be sure that you can provide clear paper trail, including showing it in the donor's possession and the actual transfer to you.

so that means:

1) you must prove the donor has the funds

2) you have received the funds

and

3) those funds in your account are the same funds that you received from the donor (copy of cancelled check, copy of wire transfer with same ID on each bank statement
