Loan Officer sleeping? (pre-approved, lender, contract, need)

The approved lender in this case is Wells Fargo (I know the devil). Well the builder is having a great deal if a contract is signed by the 14th. Paperwork was done online last Friday and it is about to be a week later and the loan officer has called once WEDNESDAY. They were called back but were not there, message left. No call back since.

Is this normal? I would figure they would be more aggressive. Now the 14th is coming up soon.

I guess I'm just stunned a week has passed and no effort was made to be contacted.

Why do you need to hear back from Wells Fargo in order to sign the contract with the builder? Are they requiring you get pre-approved with Wells Fargo? What if you are pre-approved by someone else, will the builder still give this "great deal"?
