The french from Quebec branched out from France's french in the 17th century. Both have evolved separatly.

And both are getting more and more 'anglicized'.

My grandparents’ French contained much, much more anglicized words than my kids’ French - even though my grandparents didn’t speak English very well.

I understand what you mean about the english 'jargon' being integrated in the language. But now kids are simply switching back and forth from english to french which leads to a weird frenglish.

That’s pretty much limited to the western half of the island and around the English-language universities, which contains roughly 20% of the metropolitan area’s population. Much less common in the eastern half, on the south shore and on the north shore.

In the French language cégeps or universities you’ll hear very little «*frenglish*».
