I will be visiting Montreal middle of June. The first 2 nights I'll be in Pointe Claire and have my hotel for there already booked, but I need to change hotels afterwards as I'll be staying on for some sightseeing. Any recommendations? I hear downtown is all torn up with construction. Are there any touristy spots not affected? Would like to keep the nightly rate under $220.
PS: Figured I post my query directly in the Montreal forum and ask the locals!!
Thanks!
Thank you Jambo. Is there a map that shows all the construction?
I was hoping to stay downtown for the 3 nights so I can get more of the flavor of Montreal. I won't have a car, I'll be walking or was planning to take Uber or Lyft.
What's the point of staying way out in Pointe-Claire if you want to visit the city, even if there is lots of construction? Construction isn't happening at night, is it? So it won't be noisy at night (at least not from construction).
And any construction effects will be felt during the day when visiting anyway, whether the OP stays in Pointe-Claire (and schleps in on the train), or stays downtown.

You shouldn’t need a car regardless of where you stay. Montreal is one of the easiest cities to get around in without a car.
I agree with Acajack though: Why be in Pointe Claire if you’re trying to experience the city?

I don't want to stay in Pointe Claire for the 3 nights of sightseeing.
I'll be in Pointe Claire for 2 nights for work, then going on vacation. That's why I titled my thread for downtown Montreal.
